AAS Nr. 242: Jethro Tull - The Jethro Tull Christmas Album

Jethro Tull wurde 1967 von Ian Anderson, Mick Abrahams, Glenn Cornick und Clive Bunker in Blackpool, GB gegründet. Der Bandname entstammt dem Gründer der Agrarwirtschaft, 
der im 18. Jahrhundert in England lebte. Vor genau 50 Jahren wurde ihres erstes Album "This Was" veröffentlicht. Die Band war in wechselnder Besetzung aktiv, nur Frontmann Ian Anderson (ab 1967) und Martin Barre (ab 1968) waren über die gesamte Schaffensphase Bestandteil der Band. Markant bei Jethro Tull ist der (für Prog Rock ungewöhnliche) Einsatz einer Querflöte die stets von Ian Anderson gespielt wurde bzw. wird und Jethro Tull definitiv einen hohen Wiedererkennungswert verleiht. Über die Jahrzehnte entwickelte sich die Band immer weiter. Die Literatur unterscheidet die Phasen Blues Rock, Progressive Rock, Folk Rock, Electronic Rock, Hard Rock und Weltmusik. Entsprechend unterschied sich die Besetzung (Motto: Je Phase die besten Leute). Die Band veröffentlichte ca. 25 LPs. Eines der bekanntesten Band-Alben ist das legendäre "Aqualung" (1971). 
Die Band löste sich ca. 2011 auf. Ian Anderson tritt weiterhin auf und spielt die Musik von Jethro Tull. In AAS spielen wir heute passend zu Weihnachten das Album "The Jethro Tull Christmas Album" aus dem Jahr 2003. Das Album ist fast 63 min lang, wir spielen es soweit wie die Zeit reicht.
